Aerators are water treatment devices used for aeration, or mixing air with water. These devices are used to add oxygen to the water. Aeration is used in water treatment as a pre-treatment in the process of removing hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell) from water.
Water softeners are used to remove minerals and hardness from the water supply. The resin bed within the softener traps unwanted elements and removes them through the regeneration process. Ray Newberry Well Drilling provides water softeners for all water sources.
Municipal water can be high in hardness and chlorine, requiring a softener with either carbon additive or a chlorine resistant resin.
Your home’s well water can contain many elements like calcium, tannins, iron, and more. However, the common softener will be quickly bogged down by those contaminants. Ray Newberry Well Drilling uses custom blends of resins to mitigate these contaminants. A softener's flow rate and capability are determined by the amounts of contaminants in the water and water usage — some softeners are capable of continuous use. Our service techs will carefully test your water and help you determine what size system is right for your water use.
Some contaminants such as iron, sulfur, and manganese require a more aggressive system. Ray Newberry Well Drilling custom builds systems for optimal stain removal, relying on media to trap these stains which could otherwise cause ugly discoloration.
Odors can be caused by a whole host of things like sulfur and certain bacteria. They may not be harmful, but they can cause a very unpleasant aroma. When dealing with these odors, we offer systems that use air to oxidize and release these unpleasant odors. If bacteria is present, there may be a need to introduce hydrogen peroxide or well-safe chlorine into the water. The contaminant can be easily removed with one of our specialty carbons before making its way into your home.
Whether your property has a well on it or your water comes from a municipal source, there are things that can cause an unpleasant taste to the water. These might include light minerals or chemicals which have made their way into your water. Using systems that employ carbons, we can provide a polished flavor to your water ensuring clean tasting water.
For various reasons, well water can be diagnosed with a high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) that can be caused by saltwater contamination, organics or chloramines, as well as a host of other items. The DEP says that a TDS of over 500 is considered non-potable. This doesn’t mean that the water with a number greater than 500 TDS is always unsafe, however, reverse osmosis will ensure water quality that rivals that of bottled water.
